Participate: Volunteer

A crucial component of the Reclamation Project at the Miami Science Museum is the volunteer staff working behind the scenes and in the front lines to educate and bioremediate in our communities. Volunteers are necessary for carrying out tasks ranging from science education in public schools to collecting and planting mangrove seedlings in wetlands.

You can be a part of the Reclamation Project and help the project engage South Florida communities. How?
  • Plant a tree and flag. Do your part in restoring South Florida's tree canopy and educating others about why native trees are important in South Florida.
  • Help collect and plant mangrove seedlings. Volunteers are always needed to collect mangrove seedlings with little to no chance of survival and plant mature seedlings in restoration areas. Register as a member and receive updates of seedling collections and plantings.
  • Donate to the project. Anyone can donate to the project, whether by adopting a seedling, becoming a project member, or adopting a school to become a part of the project's science education outreach program.
  • Become a part of the project staff. The Reclamation Project always looks for volunteers to work behind the scenes and at the front lines to fulfill the Reclamation Project's mission. Staff members work on areas ranging from science education outreach at public and private schools to grantwriting, from marketing to event coordination. The project aims to have a volunteer staff with diverse skills to best educate and engage communities.
