 Fienberg Fisher Elementary

Owing to the participation of Kathleen Cattie, a middle school science and math teacher, the Reclamation Project has successfully begun a new part of its continuing outreach with Feinberg Fischer during fall of 2008.  Fienberg Fisher, a Title I, K-8 school located in the heart of South Beach, was first acquainted with the Reclamation Project during the 07-08 academic year when Miami Eco-artist Xavier Cortada spoke before students and installed mangrove exhibits in several classrooms. As a school that is already "green” with campus-wide recycling of materials from plastic and paper to organic compost and mulch, and even the installation of a butterfly garden and an organic vegetable and herb garden, it is not surprising that Kathleen, the driving force behind most of these initiatives, was willing to work with the Reclamation Project for another year.
