Mangrove Planting at Virginia Key

The Reclamation Project will be planting red mangrove seedlings that have been growing in the Miami Science Museum's permanent wall exhibit. Additionally, Miami-Dade College students will participate in completing the cycle of mangrove restoration by planting seedlings that have been growing in exhibits throughout Miami-Dade College campuses.

After growing steadily in their Eco-art installations for a year, the mangroves where ready to return to their natural home. With the help of volunteers, the mangroves were able to do just that. Volunteers planted the young mangroves along water banks in Virginia Key to help reforest mangrove habitats.
